Streaks Alternative

A Streaks alternative for Android and the web

Streaks is an excellent app if you live inside Apple's ecosystem. If you don't — or if the streak itself is the part that stresses you out — HabitCove runs in any browser, on any device.

Side by Side

HabitCove and Streaks

Streaks is an Apple Design Award winner and deservedly popular. Two things send people looking elsewhere: the devices it runs on, and the streak.

There is no Streaks app for Android

This is the most common reason people end up here. Streaks is built for Apple devices — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision — and there is no Android or Windows version, so switching phones means leaving the app behind.

HabitCove has an Android app on Google Play, and it also runs in the browser, which sidesteps the problem entirely. The same habits are there on an Android phone, a work laptop and an iPad.

If you are moving from iPhone to Android, that also means your habit history does not have to stay behind on a device you no longer use.

The second reason: the streak itself

A streak counter is a genuinely good motivator, right up to the day it breaks. Then the number that was pushing you forward becomes the reason to stop, and a bad week reads as a total failure rather than a bad week.

HabitCove shows the same information differently. The consistency grid puts habits against days, so you see the pattern instead of a single number, and the yearly heatmap shows the whole year at once. Twenty-two days out of thirty-one looks like what it is: a good month.

Nothing resets, and nothing is lost when you miss a day.

Being fair about the money

Streaks costs $5.99 once. HabitCove's Oak plan is $1.49 a month or $14.99 a year, so over two or three years Streaks is cheaper, and it is worth saying so plainly.

What the subscription pays for is the part that is not on your phone: an account, syncing between devices, and your history kept somewhere other than one piece of hardware.

HabitCove's free plan covers 4 habits, 3 dreams and 3 to-dos a day, with no card, so you can see whether the calmer view suits you before paying anything.

When Streaks is the better choice

If every device you own is an Apple one, if you want habits on your wrist through the Apple Watch, or if you like tasks completing themselves through Apple Health, Streaks does things HabitCove does not.

If a streak is what motivates you rather than what worries you, that is a good reason to stay too. The right tracker is the one you keep opening.

Process

How HabitCove Helps

1

Write down what you track now

Streaks holds up to 24 tasks. Most people are actively using five or six of them.

2

Add those to HabitCove

Daily habits as daily, and anything that is really three times a week as a weekly habit.

3

Put it on your home screen

Open habitcove.com on your phone and add it to the home screen. It then opens full screen.

format_quote

"A missed day is a missed day. It is not the end of the year."

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Streaks app for Android?

expand_more

No. Streaks is built for Apple devices — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision — and there is no Android or Windows version. HabitCove has an Android app on Google Play, and it also runs in any browser, so your habits follow you between an Android phone, a laptop and an iPad.

Is HabitCove cheaper than Streaks?

expand_more

Not over the long run, and it is fairer to say so. Streaks is $5.99 paid once. HabitCove has a free plan for 4 habits, and Oak is $1.49 a month or $14.99 a year. The subscription pays for the account, the syncing and keeping your history off a single device.

Can I move my Streaks history across?

expand_more

Not automatically — the two apps store data differently. You recreate your habits in HabitCove, which takes a couple of minutes, and start the new record from today.

Does HabitCove have an Apple Watch app?

expand_more

No. Streaks does, along with Apple Health completion. If you track habits from your wrist, Streaks is the better fit.
