Habitify Alternative

A calmer Habitify alternative

Same daily discipline, without the pressure of a streak you can break. HabitCove runs in your browser, costs less, and shows your whole year instead of a number that resets.

Side by Side

HabitCove and Habitify

Both apps track daily habits well. These are the differences that usually decide it.

Why people go looking for an alternative

The usual reason is the streak. A streak is a strong motivator right up to the day you break it, and then it turns into a reason to stop. Miss one day and the counter goes back to zero, which tells you nothing useful about the ten weeks behind it.

The second reason is price. Habitify's free plan covers 3 habits, and Premium starts at $2.49 a month when you pay for a year. HabitCove's free plan covers 4 habits plus dreams and to-dos, and Oak is $1.49 a month or $14.99 a year.

The third is simply wanting to start now. HabitCove is a website first. You open it, add a habit and check in — on a work laptop, a borrowed phone, anywhere — and install it to your home screen only if you want to.

What changes when you switch

Your daily check-in stays the same: open the app, tap what you did, close it. It takes about as long either way.

What changes is what you see afterwards. HabitCove draws a consistency grid of habits against days, and a heatmap of the whole year. A missed Tuesday is one pale square in a field of full ones, which is a fairer picture of how you are actually doing.

You also get room for the things that don't fit a daily checkbox. Weekly and monthly intentions hold the goals that don't repeat every day. The dreams journal holds the long-term ones. A daily to-do list handles the small tasks that would otherwise clutter a habit list.

When Habitify is the better choice

If your routine depends on Apple Health, calendar integration, Zapier or IFTTT, Habitify does that and HabitCove does not. Location-based reminders and habit stacking triggers are theirs too.

If you manage habits for a team, Habitify sells a team plan. HabitCove is built for one person's routine.

There is no lock-in either way: HabitCove can export your data as a file whenever you want it back.

Process

How HabitCove Helps

1

Export from Habitify

Habitify can export your habit data. Keep the file — you may want the history for reference.

2

Add your habits here

Most people carry over 4 to 6 habits, not everything. Start with what you actually did last month.

3

Check in for a week

After seven days the grid starts to show a shape, and you can tell whether the calmer view suits you.

format_quote

"Consistency is not a streak. It is what the year looks like when you stand back."

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I move my Habitify data into HabitCove?

expand_more

Not automatically. Habitify can export your data to a file, and HabitCove can import a HabitCove export, but the two formats are different — so you recreate your habits here, which takes a couple of minutes. Most people bring across 4 to 6 habits rather than everything.

Is HabitCove cheaper than Habitify?

expand_more

Yes, at the time of writing. HabitCove Oak is $1.49 a month or $14.99 a year, and the free plan covers 4 habits plus 3 dreams and 3 to-dos a day. Habitify's pricing page lists a free plan with 3 habits and Premium from $2.49 a month billed annually. Check habitify.me/pricing for their current prices.

Does HabitCove connect to Apple Health or Zapier?

expand_more

No. Habitify does, and if your routine depends on those integrations it is the better fit. HabitCove focuses on tracking inside the app, with export and import so your data is never stuck.

Do I have to install an app?

expand_more

No. HabitCove runs in any browser. On a phone you can add it to your home screen and it opens full screen like a normal app, but nothing needs to come from an app store. If you would rather have an app on Android, HabitCove is on Google Play too.
